The 2009 PeaceJam Northeast Slam will be held on November 14 at Chicopee High School (850 Front St., Chicopee, MA). Group checkin and workshop selection will start at 8:15, with the opening ceremony starting at 9:00. The conference will end at 4:30.
PeaceJam Ambassadors youth, as well as PeaceJam Leaders youth in 8th grade, along with their advisors are eligible to attend this event. The registration fee for the Slam is only $30/participant (youth and adult). Because we won't have access to any food service at the high school, this will be a brown bag event, with everyone responsible for bringing their own food.
Our keynote workshop will be Building a Strong Foundation for Peace. Evan Greer, an activist, educator, and musician will facilitate this interactive exploration of how we must address issues of social justice, economic justice, and environmental justice to create sustainable peace in our communities and the world.
PeaceJam groups who were active last year will share the results and learnings from last year's Global Call to Action projects. Participants will attend one of a series of workshops on issues related to social, economic, and environmental justice, and the PeaceJam Global Call to Action.
The 2010 PeaceJam Northeast Youth Conference will be held on March 27-28 at our new college host, the University of Hartford, in Hartford, CT. More information will be posted by the end of November.
