We're really excited to announce a 2010 Global Call to Action summer internship for Connecticut PeaceJammers (with apologies to PeaceJammers from other states, we are only authorized for this program in Connecticut).
NextGen Leaders is partnering with Competitive Resources Inc. to offer the Connecticut Home Energy Solution program. CRI crews perform a comprehensive energy assessment of a home that shows areas where savings can be made, and immediately perform weatherization improvements to fix energy-wasting problem areas, install energy-efficient light bulbs, and inform people about government rebate programs if they want to upgrade appliances, etc.
We're looking for two (high school age) PeaceJammers from each Connecticut community where we have a PeaceJam presence to lead the effort in their community (they can recruit other PeaceJammers or environmentally aware youth to work on their team). The interns will be expected to work around 12-15 hours a week (they can work more hours if they want) over the summer in this unpaid internship.
We will train you on how to market the CRI Home Energy Solution program to your family, friends, and neighbors from 2:00pm - 5:00pm on July 1 at the University of Hartford. You will be provided with marketing materials, and supported by Chrissa and Camila (our fabulous VISTAs) as you hit the streets in their area to encourage people to sign up for this service.
Interns will gain valuable experience and skills in the areas of leadership, community organizing, and environmental advocacy as they work to help their families, friends, and neighbors save energy, save money, and do their part for the Global Call to Action goal of Restoring the Earth's Environment.
